OUR MINISTRIES

At Community Church, collaboration is one of our main distinctives describing how we accomplish ministry together. It is our aim to pull together teams of people from various backgrounds and different walks of life who share a commitment to Jesus and a desire to serve him in a particular way. So everything at Community Church happens in teams.  Our pastoral staff are a team.  Our elders lead the church together as a team.  Even the preaching grows out of a team of people who are studying God’s Word, praying, and evaluating sermons together. Take a look at the various ministry teams represented here, and please feel free to contact us with any questions you might have.

SMALL GROUPS

The primary way we are making disciples at Community Church is through Small Groups.  All over Cape Ann and the North Shore, there are groups of 8-12 people meeting in one another's homes during the week to study the Bible, pray for one another, and to serve their neighborhoods together.

NURSERY

Our Nursery (also known as "The Cove") provides a safe, loving environment for our youngest children to be cared for and to learn about Jesus' love for them.  The Nursery is open to children from 3 months to 3-1/2  years. There are two main rooms to our Nursery:  the Infant Room is set up for babies to rest or play with age appropriate toys, and the Toddler Room has a more structured setting that includes space for a Circle Time and a brief Bible story.  A small snack is generally served during the service in each room.

CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL

Sunday School is currently offered during our 10:00 am Worship Service each Sunday for children in Preschool - Grade 2. In Sunday School, our teachers are passionate about sharing the truth of the Good News of Jesus through more than simply retelling bible stories. Our teachers strive to make learning hands on, interactive, relevant, and impactful.

YOUTH CENTER

The heartbeat of YouthCenter is to help students in 6th-12th grade encounter the love of Jesus and take one step closer to Him, right where they are at! We host a weekly drop-in night on Fridays at the church and have multiple small group Bible studies that meet throughout the week.

WOMEN’S MINISTRY

The mission of the women’s ministry is to cultivate Christian community among women. To do this, women gather, study and serve together in a variety of places and ways each year: from Bible Studies to Ladies' Night Out events, Women's Retreats, and a Meals Ministry, there are a great variety of ways to connect and become a part of how God is working in our church.

MEN’S MINISTRY

Whether it's gathering around an outdoor firepit, or enjoying a Saturday morning breakfast; or heading off to a Men's Retreat or meeting weekly in pairs and threes for study and prayer, the men of Community Church are growing in their faith by choosing to grow together.

GREETING MINISTRY

Greeters at Community Church get the first opportunity to extend the love of Christ to those who God directs to our door. Making visitors feel welcomed and valued upon their first visit to our fellowship is only the beginning of the natural process of building relationships that allow all of us to discover what God has for us as members of His community.

WORSHIP TEAMS

Sunday morning worship at Community Church is a collaborative effort involving many people using their gifts to provide a worship environment where God can meet with us, challenge us, and shape us into the people He is calling us to be. On any given week there are musicians, vocalists, projectionists, and sound and video technicians coming together to prepare the songs, sounds and experience of worship.

PREACHING TEAM

For each of our major teaching series at the church, a committed and diverse group of people meets every Tuesday evening to work together; pastors and church members, men and women, seminary students, business people and other lay people from the church. The group is different for each series, but together, we study and prepare for the Sunday morning sermons.

LOCAL OUTREACH

While our strongest connection is to The Open Door here in Gloucester, Community Church endeavors to participate in the life of our city through service and love both corporately as a church and as individuals who are neighbors, coworkers, and family.  From Coastal Cleanups to neighborhood Harvest Parties, we are striving to share the love of Jesus with others around us.

GLOBAL OUTREACH

The Global Outreach Team exists to support and encourage the work of Community Church in this great gospel mission. We have Global Outreach Partners around the world, from Detroit to South Africa.  We work together to equip, send, encourage, and support these partners as a church. Our hope is that our whole church will take the whole gospel to the whole world.
