Hello Community Church families,

It has been wonderful to spend time with your children in Sunday School these past several months! We have had lots of fun playing, singing, praying, and learning about Jesus and His Word together. And what a blessing it is to see the Spirit at work in the hearts and lives of the kids! Now that there are some more changes taking place and we are quickly approaching the summer, I thought it would be a good time to review a few routines and share what the new Covid protocols will look like for us in Sunday School (SS):

Covid protocols for SS
The Leadership Team has decided, in keeping consistent with broader church policy that was announced via email and at the beginning of worship last Sunday, that masks will be optional in Sunday School, beginning this Sunday, May 30th. Parents and guardians may decide whether or not they would like their children to wear masks in class, and if you're wanting us to partner with you in helping your child(ren) wear masks in class on Sunday, please let us know.

Age range
We continue to offer our Sunday morning class for children in preschool through grade 2. We will certainly keep you updated when we are able to expand our age range. If you might be interested in joining us as a teacher or helper, on a regularly scheduled basis that works for you (such as once a month), please let me know- I'd love to have a conversation with you!

Child pick-up after class
For the safety of all of our children, especially since our class consists of a younger age range, our policy is that children may only be picked up by a parent or guardian, and not by a sibling of minor age. This has become a particular concern when the kids are dismissed from the side yard, with the road in close proximity. I understand that families may have different comfort levels and preferences around this subject, but we want to keep the kids safe and are going to maintain a consistent standard for all. If another child comes to pick up one of our SS kids, we will kindly ask them to return with an adult.

Kids in worship this summer
We are excited to change up our Sunday morning rhythms a little bit (figuratively and literally!) this summer by having all the kids join their families in the sanctuary for the first worship set before they head upstairs for Sunday School. The heart behind it is for the children to participate in singing and worshipping with our whole church family, and for all of us to have a chance to think and talk about why and how we worship God. This summer routine will begin June 13 and go through August 22, and we will communicate the details of how and when the children will exit the sanctuary for SS.

Thank you for reading through all of these updates, and thank you for all you do to love and support your kids! Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions, and we look forward to seeing you and your children again soon.

In Him,
Holly
