CALL TO WORSHIP

19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him.

— Matthew 4:19-20

WORSHIP SERVICE

GOING DEEPER

The following questions invite you to interact with the sermon in a more personal way. If you’re worshipping with a group, share your answers and pray together for one another. If you’re not with a group, use a journal to reflect on these questions as we seek to apply the truth of the Bible to our actual lives. You don’t have to answer all of these questions. Look them over, and use one or two that might be helpful as you respond to God’s Word.

  1. Do we think of the work of making other disciples as an optional add-on?

Why might we allow the work of sharing the good news with others, or encouraging, and mentoring to not be a priority? Is it a priority in your life? Does it seem like Jesus was setting up new and final priorities with His disciples in Matthew 28:18-20?

Take a moment and consider how you prioritize things in your life. Make a list if you need to. Spend a moment in prayer before the Lord laying your priorities down before him and ask for wisdom, courage, and grace to live a radically re-prioritized life under his Lordship.

2. How do we respond to this command to Make Disciples?

How did you become a follower of Jesus? Did someone who was walking with Jesus disciple you, invite you, or mentor you? Have you ever been “discipled”? In the New Testament there are example after example of how the church was filled by people who shared their lives with one another, were committed in relationships (as individuals and as church bodies), and who were discipling one another in response to Jesus great commission.

At community church we welcome disciple making in a wide array of domains - but we specifically want to equip people through small groups, classes, and one on one mentorship. Which one of these 3 ways could you lead and be a disciple maker? You may be feeling like — “I am not there yet”. But this week we wanted to challenge you to elevate your sense of identity and calling as follower of Jesus. If you have met Jesus, you have the qualifications to at least get started. Invite the believers around you into conversation about where and how you can get started.

If you want to join a cohort of people wondering how to get started as a one on one mentor reach out to mentorship@eastgloucester.org today!

Be a Disciple Maker!

GIVING

Giving is an act of worship that acknowledges that God is the giver of all we have, and that we are stewards of His resources. We offer our tithes as a concrete act of entrusting all of our lives to Jesus. There are three ways you can give:

LIVE

If you’re joining us in person on a Sunday morning, you can give your gift in the plates at the back of the sanctuary.

ONLINE

You can use our online giving platform by clicking the button below to make a one-time gift or to set up a recurring gift. There is a small fee for making an online transaction.

GIVE NOW

YOUR BANK

You can contact your bank and set up an automatic bill pay, which is free in most cases. Many use this option for their regular monthly tithe.

Regardless of you how give, we see giving as one way we can reflect the heart and character of our God, who “so loved the world that He gave…” everything for us (John 3:16).

PRAYER

Submit a Prayer Request: Share with one another the needs, challenges, and joys that you, your family, your neighbors, and your workplaces are going through during this time. Prayer requests can be shared with either our whole church, or just the prayer leadership teams.

Spend Some Time in Prayer: We have collected some prayer requests that have been submitted to us and we have posted them on our community prayer wall. This morning, we invite you to pray for those needs posted there, and we also invite you pray over what was shared or discovered in the Going Deeper questions above.

Share a Photo or Video: Here you have an opportunity to post a video, photo, or selfie from different groups and families to share with one another. Take a selfie with Worship Online in the background! Hold up signs! Express your gratitude and celebrate being a part of Community Church!
