CALL TO WORSHIP
The Lord makes firm the steps
of the one who delights in him;
though he may stumble, he will not fall,
for the Lord upholds him with his hand..”
— Psalm 37:23-24
WORSHIP SERVICE
GOING DEEPER
The following questions invite you to interact with the sermon in a more personal way. If you’re worshipping with a group, share your answers and pray together for one another. If you’re not with a group, use a journal to reflect on these questions as we seek to apply the truth of the Bible to our actual lives. You don’t have to answer all of these questions. Look them over, and use one or two that might be helpful as you respond to God’s Word.
(1) What barriers prevent you from being devoted to growing in relationship with Jesus?
In the sermon, Jake discussed three barriers that often come up for people. 1. We don’t recognize and know that Jesus offers more than just forgiveness - so we miss the whole invitation to new life. 2. The pull of the difficult things in life is just too strong because it looks better than the ‘drudgery’ of having Jesus radically reorient us. 3. We miss the invitation into a committed family of other disciples who would hold us up, challenge us, and remind us of God’s truth.
There are often other barriers that rise up — what has been your challenges? Do you see this “New Life in Jesus Name” as being worth it? Take a moment and journal or share with others about what you see this “New Life in Jesus Name” really being all about.
(2) Peter says that we have “everything we need” to grow as followers of Jesus. One of the things Jesus gave us was one another. Are you being discipled in a relationship at this time?
Are you in a small group, seminar/class, or one on one relationship where you are growing one step closer to Jesus with others? These places can be the lifeblood of growing as a follower of Jesus. They are not simple or always easy. Sometimes sharing life with others is vulnerable, challenging, and even heartbreaking. But, when we allow others to help spur us on to lavishly growing in relationship with Jesus we invite accountability, encouragement, teaching, and even correction. If you are not in a group yet but want to find out more reach out to our discipleship pastor.
If you are in a group or relationship. How are you spurring others to grow more? Have you allowed your involvement to be rote, “checking-the-box”, or even disingenuous? Share with your group or relationship one way you feel like the Lord is leading you to grow. If you are in need of ideas - look back to the list of growth areas that Peter details in 2 Peter 1:5-10.
BE DEVOTED TO GROWING IN RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS!
GIVING
Giving is an act of worship that acknowledges that God is the giver of all we have, and that we are stewards of His resources. We offer our tithes as a concrete act of entrusting all of our lives to Jesus. There are three ways you can give:
LIVE
If you’re joining us in person on a Sunday morning, you can give your gift in the plates at the back of the sanctuary.
ONLINE
You can use our online giving platform by clicking the button below to make a one-time gift or to set up a recurring gift. There is a small fee for making an online transaction.
YOUR BANK
You can contact your bank and set up an automatic bill pay, which is free in most cases. Many use this option for their regular monthly tithe.
Regardless of you how give, we see giving as one way we can reflect the heart and character of our God, who “so loved the world that He gave…” everything for us (John 3:16).
PRAYER
Submit a Prayer Request: Share with one another the needs, challenges, and joys that you, your family, your neighbors, and your workplaces are going through during this time. Prayer requests can be shared with either our whole church, or just the prayer leadership teams.
Spend Some Time in Prayer: We have collected some prayer requests that have been submitted to us and we have posted them on our community prayer wall. This morning, we invite you to pray for those needs posted there, and we also invite you pray over what was shared or discovered in the Going Deeper questions above.
Share a Photo or Video: Here you have an opportunity to post a video, photo, or selfie from different groups and families to share with one another. Take a selfie with Worship Online in the background! Hold up signs! Express your gratitude and celebrate being a part of Community Church!
